Primary schools in Ashford are being encouraged to sign up to a green campaign to tackle pollution levels in the town.
The air pollution team at Ashford Borough Council is offering grant support to enable schools to join an initiative that will both cut school run traffic movements and also earn schools credit with Ofsted.
The award winning initiative is led by the charity department at the Kentish Express which has supported green travel schemes at primary schools in the county for more than a decade. Last academic year the campaign removed 218,000 school run car journeys from Kent roads.
The KM Charity Team operate four green travel schemes; walking bus, Walk on Wednesday, Active Bug and Green Footsteps. Grant funding is currently available to support Active Bug and Greenfootsteps at selected schools in the borough.
